After four years of running our popular Sicily Wine & Wellness Small Group Trip between the snow-capped peaks of Mt. Etna and the baroque wonders of Ortigia, we’ve decided to take you further off the beaten path! In 2025, our Sicily wine and wellness trip will include the magical, less-traveled Aeolian Islands – Vulcano and Salina.
This volcanic archipelago of seven islands off the north coast of Sicily is a haven of crystal clear, bubbling waters, white-washed shimmering buildings and delectable white wine. Not to mention the mouth-watering cuisine and the unmatched southern hospitality!
We will begin our 7-night journey at the wine resort of Barone di Villagrande on Etna, where we will have a chance to partake in the sacred wine harvest, from the picking of the grapes to the press. We will hear the story of 6th generation winemaker Marco Nicolosi, along with the ever-changing challenges that making wine and hosting travelers on Europe’s most active volcano brings. In this video, meet Alfonso Caltagirone, Hospitality Manager of Barone di Villagrande where he talks about what you will experience at their wine resort.
We will also have a chance to hike the mineral-rich volcanic landscape and indulge in Catania’s world-famous street food.
On our last evening before heading to the Aeolian Islands, we will share a meal in Carmensita’s Etna Home Restaurant in her company and that of her husband Giuseppe, for the ultimate journey through Sicilian culinary traditions.
Meet them in this video below!
On the fourth day, we will stop in the famous town of Taormina for a lunch with a view before journeying to Vulcano, our Aeolian Archipelago home for the second part of the trip. Set on an unspoiled promontory overlooking the spectacular Faraglioni of Lipari, Therasia Resort boasts enchantingly quiet surroundings and breathtaking views of the archipelago.
Here, we will relax in barefoot luxury, rejuvenate with a sunset massage, and bathe in centuries-old volcanic mud. We will also step aboard our beautiful, private speedboat and cruise to the island of Panarea, where we will have a chance to swim and witness the sulphuric volcanic activity up close. We will then continue to cruise until we reach Stromboli, one of the world’s most active stratovolcanoes, for a sunset dinner with a view on board.
Join us for this sensorial wine and wellness journey as we uncover the hidden gems of one of the world’s most extraordinary places, Sicily and the Aeolian Islands.
